What is Compostable?
If you didn't hear already, we have started our composting journey at the
Luxey HQ warehouse.
It has been amazing to educate the team more about the benefits of composting, and if you are composting at home it's a great activity to get the kids involved with. They think worm farms are really cool!
If you have started your composting journey, we have shared below what we have learned that can and can't be composted.
Compostables
Fruit and veggies (non-acidic avoid oranges, lime and lemon)
Eggshells, coffee grounds and filters
Eggshells, coffee grounds and filters
Newspaper, cardboard, paper, leaves and grass trimmings, wood, cotton items tofu
Non-compostables
Whole eggs, dairy products, fats, oils, animal bones fish and meat, coloured/glossy paper, fruit and veggie stickers, onion and garlic scraps
Once you have your compostables, the next most important ingredient is carbon - things like your dry brown materials such as paper, cardboard, coconut peat, dry leaves, wood shavings. It's important to add the same about of carbon/browns as your compostables for a healthy thriving worm farm.
